Athyrium niponicum, or Japanese painted fern, is a deciduous, terrestrial plant with a unique, weeping habit. This fern is popular for its low-mounding habit and attractive horizontal layering. Plant it and watch it slowly spread and form dense colonies.
Sunlight: Partial Sunlight. Can be grown in sheltered location with partial shade to full shade. To obtain best frond color place these ferns in light shade
Water: Water with a sufficient amount to allow water to drain out from below of the pot, then allow top 1 inch of soil to dry out before watering again. (Approx. 1-2 times weekly). Ferns need to be kept consistantly moist at all times. They do not however want to be soggy or water logged.
Fertiliser: Keep your plant in top form by feeding it every few weeks with a dilute solution of liquid fertiliser or sprinkling solid fertiliser over the soil.
